Applications are open for Goldfinger Academy X Unloc's 5-day woodworking, employability and entrepreneurship workshop at Morley College London in Chelsea.
26th-30th May 2025, 10am-4:30pm
Morley College London
Hortensia Rd, Chelsea, SW10 0QS
During this 5-day course students will be taught in a workshop, lead by a master craftsman, the fundamentals of woodworking through making their own wooden stool during the first 3 days. This is followed by 2 days of learning key skills associated with developing their own creative projects and business ideas as well as employability and work-ready skills to support their CV for future employment opportunities.
The traineeship is free and open to those aged 16 to 25, who are studying and/or living in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.
The workshop is well-suited to entry-level learners developing an interest in woodworking and design, to those who have entrepreneurial aspirations or simply those who are not sure if the above areas of work are for them, but would like to try it for themselves. We welcome applications from those currently not in education, employment or training.
You will:
- Learn the fundamentals of woodworking from an expert craftsperson
- Gain hands-on experience with making a wooden object and a carpentry joint
- Career guidance and signposting to follow-up opportunities with Goldfinger and partners
- Acquire personal confidence, skills and qualities for entrepreneurship and employability more broadly
- Learn skills to develop your own creative projects and business ideas
- Connect with external role models
- Add the experience on to your CV for future employment opportunities
